Virginia Tech, may I see my schedule for tomorrow, please?
January 19th, 2009Classes at Tech start tomorrow, so an hour ago I thought it would be wise to check my schedule to see where tomorrow’s classes are. Virginia Tech has a pretty good set of online tools that allow students to accomplish a variety of tasks related to their relationship with Tech. my.vt.edu, is the hub of most of the tools. From there a student can check his tech email, register for classes, view his schedule, and more.
The task at hand was to check my schedule. For example, I know I have a class at 9:30 tomorrow, but was that English or multivar? What building and room is it in? The answer to these questions haven’t been important until now. Wanting answers, I made my way to my.vt.edu and signed in. I clicked on the “Courses” tab to be greeted with this message: “There appear to be holds on your account.” The use of the passive voice didn’t help make the statement less accusatory.
