			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It’s Memorial Day, and I found <a href="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2522544597_6a5ff3e122_o.jpg">this</a> on <a href="http://digg.com/political_opinion/2_Pictures_2_Kinds_of_Goodbye_PICS">Digg</a>—it really got to me.&#160; At first I didn’t see anything special in the picture, but then I noticed the solitary tear coming down the boy’s cheek, and I thought about being in his position.&#160; If you look in the first picture, both brothers are upset… they clearly shared a special relationship.&#160; From his point of view, the kid said goodbye keeping the worst in mind, and then it actually happened.&#160; By the time the second picture was taken he was emotionally raw and empty.&#160; As cliché as it might sound, freedom is not free.    <br /><a href="http://mypieceoftheinter.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/memorial-day-steve.jpg"><img style="display: inline" title="memorial_day_steve" alt="memorial_day_steve" src="http://mypieceoftheinter.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/memorial-day-steve-thumb.jpg" width="345" height="480" /></a></p>
